From My Flame To Your Creations!
Hi there! My name is Anne Ricketts and I live north of Austin, TX with my husband David and our two boys, Austin who will be attending Central Texas College and Cameron who will be attending Mountain State University in West Virginia, Fall 2011. We have two other children that live in Louisiana. Chris  is a graduate of Northwestern College and works and lives in Leaque City TX and Amanda is living and working in Louisiana with her sons, Kenison David and Jackson Alexander.
For as long as I can remember I have been doing some sort of art form or another! Art class was the only A+ I ever had thru my school career!! LOL! My interests have included, drawing, sketching, oil painting, watercolors, making pottery, and leather work all while I was high school. Once I got out of high school up in Longview, WA (Go Monarchs!) I then moved back to TX and found fabric!! I started making my own clothes which lead to quilting. I did cross-stitching and embroidery also.
I was a serious quilter for 12 years and was even President of the Friendship Quilt Guild in Brenham, TX when we lived there and I then found wood. I guess I took after my dad because he used to make these great, detailed birdhouses and sold them. Anyway that's how Anne's Crafts was born. I was making decorative tole painted woodcrafts and selling them. I then found time to start making jewelry for myself. I started working with polymer clay, making beads and other things from such a wonderful medium. People started asking me about my jewelry and I started making and selling my jewelry but I wanted to find a way to make my own beads and I was cruising Ebay one day and saw the word "lampwork beads". I had no clue what it meant so I clicked on an auction and saw this one single breathtaking bead by Michael Barley and I was hooked!! I wanted to learn how to make glass beads myself for my own jewelry designs.
In December, 2001 as my Christmas present that year, I took a class with Molly Heynis of Heritage Glass and I haven't looked back!! I was in total awe that I was making beads!! LOL! I finally knew what I wanted to be when I grew up!! So that is where I am at today! Making pretties for you to buy or bid on Ebay. In 2002 I met Jim and Rose Berry. They are the owners of Blue Moon Glassworks in Austin. I had this idea of wanting to meet monthly with fellow glass junkies and went to him with the idea. He loved it and thought it was a great idea so that's how The Austin Fireflies were born! We meet every last Sat.of the month at 7pm at Blue Moon Glassworks! Well that's about it! Thanks for reading all the way down! Have a great day!!!
